Residential streets are flanked by mature trees. There are gentle hills in portions of the Village, and two forest preserves border the North Branch of the Chicago River. The modern central business district is near the intersection of Waukegan and Deerfield Roads. Deerfield’s Park District maintains 283.4 acres of recreation area, including a 130-acre golf course with modern clubhouse. Residents may also use the beach and boating facilities of neighboring Highland Park. Three country clubs, two municipal pools, tennis courts and forest preserves are all available for Deerfield residents.
Transportation
Rail commuters have the option of two train stations in Deerfield. One is located on Deerfield Road in downtown Deerfield and the second is on Lake Cook Road just East of Pfingsten Road. PACE provides bus service throughout the area.
Schools
Elementary school students are served by District 109. District 113 serves the high school students. District 113 is comprised of Deerfield High School and Highland Park High School. Both schools consistently rank in the top 10 statewide based on ACT scores. Some areas of Deerfield are given a choice as to which high school to attend.
Shopping
A new shopping district has been added in downtown Deerfield which has specialty stores and restaurants. Northbrook Court Mall on Lake-Cook Road is a large indoor mall with Neiman Marcus and other fine stores.
Recreation
Deerfield Park District offers year round recreational programs, a community center, 21 park sites (over 262 acres), two pools an 18 hole golf course, baseball, football, basketball, soccer and track fields, tennis courts, sledding hill, ice skating, and playgrounds.
